News from the residents of East Melbourne

The East Melbourne Group (EMG) extends a warm welcome and best wishes to all East Melbourne residents, businesses and visitors who are seeing the signs of spring in our wonderful suburb.

While it has been a cold winter, your EMG team has not been hibernating. We continue to work to support the community and are always looking to engage with those who live, work, and visit the suburb.

We are pleased to announce several upcoming events which we hope you will join in.

The EMG 70th year anniversary Gala Dinner is being held on Friday, September 1.

Full details can be found at https://www.trybooking.com/events/landing/1086480

And later in the year we have scheduled:

  • EMG Annual Trivia Night – Friday, October 13
  • EMG Annual Family Christmas Picnic at Bishopscourt – Saturday, November 25
  • East Melbourne Library Community Family Day – Saturday, December 2

Keep a look out for updates on these events.

As I write, Jen Owen and the amenities team are planning to meet with representatives of Victoria Police, the Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC) and City of Melbourne to try and resolve some ongoing issues with crime, parking, a new “wombat crossing” in Simpson St and resident car access to homes during major events.

As always, we welcome feedback and encourage you to get involved by joining the group. •
