Carlton Conversations features a look back to World War Two
The Carlton Community History Group’s president and historian Jeff Atkinson will speak about Carlton during the Second World War on May 26 from 6pm to 8pm.
The presentation will be one of the Carlton Residents Association’s (CRA) Carlton Conversations series held every few months, featuring local identities and specialists who have made a significant contribution to the suburb.
Jeff has written several books on local and Australian history. He regularly leads historical walks through Carlton and writes a regular column for Inner City News. He is a member of the Heritage Advisory Committee for the City of Yarra, and the Heritage Committee of the Royal Historical Society of Victoria, whose mandate is the preservation of important heritage places in Victoria.

The event will take place at the rear of Brunetti Classico, 380 Lygon St, Carlton. All CRA members and guests are invited.
Admission is free but bookings are required through Trybooking.
You will be treated to nibbles and a 45-minute talk, followed by Q&A.
Members can enjoy a free drink (house wine, soft drink or beer – first one on us!), and non-members and guests are most welcome, but must pay for their own drinks.
If you wish you can stay on for dinner, which can be ordered and served in the Brunetti restaurant. •
