Winter blues
We now know we have entered winter with cold mornings and some decent rain! If you bump into me in the street, please don’t talk football as our team down Royal Parade is not going very well!
June has been a very productive month with our new website going live, parkvilleassociation.org.au, which will enable us to keep all residents up to date with our latest news.
We will now have an annual newsletter in your letterboxes and keep the website active with updated news.
Newsletters on a regular basis in mailboxes sadly tend to sit there and remain unread. Our column in Inner City News is a regular update on matters in Parkville. Likewise, our Instagram and Facebook pages will also contain updates.
Our new committee members are now on board. They are heritage and planning expert Ray Osborne, keen golfer and birdwatcher Bruce Sutherland from North Parkville, and deputy principal of Janet Clarke Hall Annie McGuire. Together with our other members we will have a very strong and focused group.
Back to work … this month our traffic survey and hopefully parking surveys commence.
We have a traffic group which has objectives to make Parkville safer. Hopefully the council will agree to our needs.
On the subject of safety, the tram stops on Royal Parade have had the safety works start making the “dodge the car” moments easier. I should remind all, as tram users, we need to be observant as some drivers will still ignore signage and throttle through.
With the traffic survey please let us know your thoughts by emailing us at [email protected] – there will also be a meeting with residents at some stage in August.
Finally, we are holding our annual “Christmas in July” on July 28. This is always a great night, and our members will enjoy the hospitality of our favourite watering hole, Naughtons!
Happy July! •
