Sarah and Stella’s day out

Sarah and her three-year-old poodle cross Stella were enjoying their first day out of lockdown when Inner City News met them in late October.

The pair was walking around the streets of Carlton on their way to a café for the first time in months.

“It’s amazing, there’s so many people around,” Sarah said.

“We’re having our first sitting down coffee since lockdown began and Stella comes with us everywhere so she’s enjoying it too.”

Sarah adopted Stella from Kangaroo Island at the end of 2020 not long after the passing of her previous dog.

Although she hadn’t intended to get a dog so soon, Sarah said it was meant to be.

“Stella came to me, I wasn’t looking for her,” Sarah said.

“She’s a bit special because she has a split fontanel on her forehead, so her skull hasn’t fused, and she needed a home with no kids.”

“She’s full of beans and has brought us nothing but joy so I think it was meant to be.” •
