Meet Krougt, fresh from Iceland
Dominika, who is originally from Czech Republic, was proud to introduce her seven-year-old male Border Collie born in Iceland, Krougt, to Inner City News in Carlton Gardens last month.
“He definitely came at the right time in my life,” Dominika said, as his name means “luck” in Icelandic.
Why this language? She was working in Iceland, and the dog’s mum abandoned her seven puppies after she gave birth on a beach.
“Even before he opened his eyes, I was the first to take care of him” and ever since, they’ve built a lasting connection.
Described by Dominika as “social, fun and easy-going”, Krougt doesn’t behave in a “crazy” manner like the reputation of his breed would have some believe.
It’s fair to say this dog is one brave traveller. He flew to Australia just a month ago and stayed two weeks after he caught COVID. But Dominika said, “he is all well and settled now”.
Welcome to Carlton, Krougt! •
