Energetic poodle has her own agenda
Local poodle Rin is “very energetic, especially when she is off to the ball,” according to her owner Amelia, and her energy is especially surprising given she is already 10 years old.
Amelia told Inner City News that Carlton Gardens was Rin’s backyard.
“We live very close over in Rathdowne St; that is why we are here at least twice a day,” Amelia said, who added that she enjoyed living near the park.
“I love how many beautiful trees there are. It is so shady, and because I walk here every day, I get to see the seasons changing the leaves,” she said.
“And I love how many people use it as well, and obviously looking at the beautiful exhibition building is pretty magical, too.”
But the pair will often visit off-leash dog parks elsewhere in the area “because Rin is crazy about the ball as soon as you get it out. Then, she got no interest in any other person or dog.”
According to Amelia, it’s Rin’s energy and attitude make her stand out.
“We only recently found out that she is already 10 years’ old, six months older than we thought, and her birthday is the same as my nan's,” Amelia said.
“She was adopted by us from a breeder, who did not want her anymore, but she never told us Rin’s real age until my mum asked her two weeks ago.”
Amelia’s family had a lot of dogs in the past, but Rin is the first she has owned as an adult since the COVID pandemic.
“As soon as they said you can work from home, I was like, ‘Great, we’re getting a dog!’” Amelia said, describing her as cuddly and very self-assured – a trait she explained you could sense in her brown eyes.
“If she is grumpy, because you will not give her a treat or she thinks it is dinner time and it isn’t, you can really tell that she disagrees,” Amelia explained, adding that Rin loved to wake her every morning as soon as the sun came up by jumping in the bed.
“She definitely has her own agenda.” •
