Following a collision in East Melbourne on March 16, a 58-year-old Toorak woman has allegedly been caught driving with a blood alcohol reading more than five times over the legal limit.

It is alleged that a car crashed into the rear of a Jeep wagon before reversing and colliding with another car. The collisions occurred at the intersection of Lansdowne and Albert streets.

Police arrived on scene shortly after the crash at around 11pm. There were no reported injuries.

“The driver was taken to a police station for an evidentiary breath test and returned an alleged reading of 0.263,” a police spokesperson said.

The driver’s licence was immediately suspended.

Police are expecting that the woman will be charged on summons in relation to drink-driving and other traffic matters.
