Celebrating National Volunteer Week

Celebrating National Volunteer Week

National Volunteer Week (May 20 to 26) is Australia’s largest annual celebration of volunteering.

This year, we embraced the theme “Something for Everyone,” recognising the diverse passions and talents volunteers bring to our communities.

It’s a time to highlight the essential role volunteers play and to invite those who haven’t yet volunteered to discover their unique place in this vibrant world.

At Carlton Neighbourhood Learning Centre (CNLC), we see firsthand the transformative impact volunteers have on our community. Our dedicated volunteers are the backbone of CNLC, from helping in our classrooms with adult education, through to food relief support. Their commitment and passion make a real difference in the lives of those we serve.

One of our standout initiatives is our free community lunch. Every Thursday, our community lunch, prepared and served with assistance from volunteers, brings together people from all walks of life, fostering a sense of community and belonging. During the past year alone, CNLC volunteers have provided more than 400 community lunch meals and food relief for 600 individuals.

National Volunteer Week was the perfect opportunity to celebrate these incredible contributions and to show our gratitude. Volunteers at CNLC not only support our programs but also bring a wealth of skills and perspectives that enrich our community.

From teaching English to new migrants and refugees and helping in the garden to helping with administrative tasks and fundraising, there truly is “Something for Everyone” in volunteering at CNLC.

While National Volunteer Week is now behind us, we use the opportunity to invite everyone to explore the wide range of volunteering opportunities available. Whether you’re passionate about education, community welfare, or simply want to give back, there’s a place for you at CNLC.
