Carlton Harmony Day 2025 celebrations
On April 12, The University of Melbourne and the Carlton community came together to successfully stage Harmony Day for a third time, strengthening local connections and celebrating cultural diversity.
“The University of Melbourne is proud to support Carlton Harmony Day, a celebration of diversity, connection, and belonging felt by all,” Professor Michael Wesley, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Global, Culture and Engagement), told Inner City News.
“In partnering with the Carlton Community Network, we bring students, staff, and neighbours together to create a more inclusive and vibrant community.”
Harmony Day is crucial in encouraging and promoting diversity to celebrate people from different backgrounds gathered in Australia.

This year, nearly 500 people joined the event at Carlton Primary School to celebrate the vision of making the world a better and more inclusive.
“Participating in Carlton Harmony Day strengthens bonds with our community and provides our students with real-world experiences that help shape them to become engaged, compassionate leaders equipped to drive positive social change,” Professor Wesley added.
“As an institution empowered by our sense of place, we recognise that true progress is built through local collaboration.”
Students from different faculties of The University of Melbourne also brought their professional knowledge into the event and made their outstanding contributions.
The students from the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences shared their valuable knowledge to children and families, and the Chinese Music Ensemble from the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music gave a perfect musical performance for the event. •
