Celebrate inspiring East Melbourne women on International Women’s Day

The City of Melbourne is bursting at the seams with art, culture and gastronomy. Steeped in First Nations and European heritage, it’s a city rich in diversity. It’s a city full of innovators and trail blazers. It’s a city built on creativity and pioneering spirit.

So, what is Melbourne’s secret to success in these areas and beyond? While there can be no singular answer, two of the most vital ingredients are community and women.

A Google search for “what do women bring to a community?” surfaces countless results, all of which highlight the essential role that women play in society.

Across all cultures around the world women are the supple, supportive backbones of families and communities. Without women, everything would begin to fray.

In celebration of International Women’s Day, the East Melbourne Group (EMG) is hosting a special ticketed event on Thursday, March 6 at the Lyceum Club – one of Melbourne’s original women’s members clubs with a long history of supporting and encouraging women to excel in both life and career.

Our guest speaker is psychologist Cathy Wagner. Having lived in East Melbourne for more than 15 years – including during the period when she was the custodian of Musk Farm – Ms Wagner is without doubt a supple, supportive backbone for the local community.

Over the course of her three-decade career as a psychologist in private practice, Ms Wagner has offered essential care, compassion and guidance to hundreds of individuals. She has led them through darkness and given them the essential self-care and wellbeing tools they needed to be successful innovators, trail blazers and pioneers, who give back to their own communities.

From 6pm, Ms Wagner will present an inspiring talk about what led her to change careers from nursing to psychology and share insights into her area of specialty which focused on the particular needs of women juggling work, life and family.

If you’re interested in hearing and learning about the life and experiences of one of the inner city’s most well respected female psychologists, and fancy absorbing the powerful female energy of the Lyceum Club over drinks and canapes this International Women’s Day, secure your ticket to what is sure to be an entertaining, informative and inspirational conversation.
